COACHING

Do you ever feel slightly nervous as you put your foot in the stirrup?

Does the thought of cantering fill you with dread?

Has your horse ever done something while riding that you were not quite sure how to handle?

The key ingredient that is often missing for riders to succeed is: Confidence.

Confidence in yourself. Confidence in your horse. Confidence that you have the skills to stay safe and have fun while in the saddle.

Round yard skills - help build a strong bond between you and your horse while also fostering trust and respect. The confined space of a round yard allows for focused training sessions where you can work on groundwork to improve your horse's responsiveness, balance, and confidence, making them more reliable partners both on the ground and in the saddle. For you, it's an opportunity to develop better communication and leadership skills, as well as deepen your understanding of your horse's behavior and body language. Overall, round yard training can be a rewarding and enriching experience for both horse and rider.

Ridden - Jessica concentrates on teaching beginner and intermediate riders the fundamentals of riding while they learn to communicate with their horse. The emphasis on establishing an independent seat, soft hands and effective aids will enable you to communicate harmoniously with your horse so you can feel confident while in the saddle. Whether you are primarily a leisure rider or aim to compete in the future, Jessica will help you establish good riding habits and build your confidence from the first lesson.

Showing - Participating in horse shows is an incredibly fulfilling experience that beautifully showcases the dedication and training that you and your horse have invested together. From the precision of reining to the elegance of Western dressage, each discipline offers its own unique challenges and rewards. With Jessica's expert guidance, you can unlock your full potential and bring your equestrian dreams to life.

Jessica previously worked under the guidance of mentors at established riding schools around Perth before completing her riding instructor qualification (Certificate 3 in Sport Coaching – Equestrian) in 2014. Her experience in helping riders at different levels of riding ability means you will receive coaching from someone who can identify what will work for you and your horse. Private lessons and specially structured group clinics in controlled environments will help you achieve your horsemanship and riding goals.

Coaching is available on your horse at your property, or you can bring your horse to us at our Pinjar or Muckenburra venues. Lessons will be delivered to suit your current riding ability and confidence level, then structured so you can progress towards achieving your riding goals.

Whether you want to get back in the saddle after a break, gain confidence to go on a relaxing trail ride, participate at adult riding club, compete in a show or visit the beach, Jessica will support you throughout each stride.

LONGLINING

Learning to longline equips you with the tools to assess your horse’s demeanour prior to riding, ensuring that you can be confident before putting your foot in the stirrup. If your horse is unable to be ridden, longlining offers you a practical way to exercise them safely on the ground.

Longlining is suitable for horses of all ages, from initial training to refinement or rehabilitation after injury.

This valuable tool helps establish basic cues, before the horse is ridden. Longlining is also necessary if you intend to train your horse to drive a buggy or cart as it introduces them to the relevant aids and helps them become comfortable with movement behind them.

CLINICS

Bring out your inner horsewoman with an Equine Focus clinic!
Clinics are a fun, structured way to expose your horse to different environments and expand your horsemanship skills. Clinics can focus on a specific training or riding issue, or include a range of activities, such as the desensitisation days which involve numerous obstacles. Participant numbers are limited to ensure you and your horse receive plenty of attention, and so you can learn through watching other horses and horsewomen’s interactions throughout the day.

Equine Focus offers clinics at the Pinjar and Muckenburra (Gingin) facilities and at other properties upon request within the Perth region and beyond. Upcoming clinics are posted on Equine Focus Horsemanship and Coaching Facebook page, so follow us to keep up-to-date on the latest news.

For questions regarding minimum numbers for clinics outside of the Perth region and clinic structures, please contact Jessica
